Syncing Ipod?

Hi,
What's the status on being able to sync ipods. I've seen from older posts that this was in development but can see no way to do it.
At present I have to copy all my music from computer to ipod, and each time I do I have to wipe the ipod (which I have to do as an ipod reset on my laptop which has windows & itunes) beorehand & then copy music so it's not duplicating songs.
Sync (that is only adding new music) would be really useful, so is it possible?
