Permissions to write to network drive

Hi
Edits I make to songs (right click, edit songs) are not permanent. They are there until I update my library, then the changes are back to the previous state. I believe this has something to do with permissions but I am really not sure how to figure it out. I am the only user on my system, the network storage is another Linux installation that is used as a server. The permissions seem the same as other folders I write to on the network drive, I can rip CDs to the network drive, the only thing that won't write are the edits.
