Well, an entire album may be scrobbled normally but then, when I move on to the next one, it will just stop working. At first, the song seems to be scrobbled but, once I refresh my last.fm page, it just disappears.
Hope that this helps. If it doesn't, I'll be back with anything else I notice.

No, many albums in my library now seem to have zero length, including the one that wasn't scrobbled.

That is the problem. With recent changed adding cue support I changed lengths from seconds to milliseconds and now you are reporting bad track lengths. To fix it do a complete rescan.
