Nearby Concerts and "Biased" shuffle

Post by front243 »

These are two feature requests I have seen in other players:

1. Nearby concerts by artists in your library

I have seen this feature in several players. Good example is "Songbird". You enter your location in the settings and it will tell you if any bands in your library is playing there in the near future. I know that a site like jambase.com exposes an API which could be used.

2. "Biased" shuffle

I have seen this in iTunes (the DJ mode). Basically it is a shuffle of your library but higher rated songs have preference. Not entirely like making a smart playlist because single-starred tracks still got a small chance to be played although higher rated songs are preferred. The reason I like this is because some albums seems to "grow" on you with repeated play. You might put a single star first time you hear it, but with repeat listens it gets better.

Thanks and welcome aboard.

That ideas sounds great but I prefer to hear what others have to say about it. We have the Ideatorrent where you can add this ideas so others can vote for it if they consider something interesting or not.
The link is https://sourceforge.net/apps/ideatorrent/guayadeque/

The ideas are approved, and I added my suggestion to the second idea.
For the first idea note that in the last.fm tab there is an Event section that shows future events of the band, but of course they are not necessarily nearby.

You can set your location on last.fm, so maybe guayadeque could retrieve concert info from the user's "recommended events" listing. It might be pretty cool, though of course I don't know how hard it would be to implement.
