This goes along with another request, and I'm not sure it will happen anytime soon if you're not doing enhancements currently, but it would be a very nice addition.

What I requested previously was the ability to play other albums from the same artist via the new album view under the album browser.

What I think would also be nice is the option to group Albums by the same artist from the Album Browser itself, so basically it would give a better cover view showing either 1 album cover image or maybe the first 2 or 3 like some other media players do, then we would click on that artist and it would show all the albums in the new 'Album View', that is, if you added the previous feature.

Another thing that would be suitable is instead of changing the new album view, if thats too much work, would be just adding a drop down box that would show when you hover the grouped albums in the album browser The drop down box would show the albums and allow you to click one which would then bring you to the new Album View

That is a feature that will come. I plan to add a navigation feature to the album browser and rename it Media Browser instead of Album Browser.

That would be awesome. Just out of curiousity, do you think it will be possible to have request number 1 which is grouping the albums by artist?

When you say navigation is that like the arrows that are currently there to go back from an album to the album browser, or more like bread crumbs? It would be nice to have something that remembers history.

Another vote for these features. The more flexible the artists/album view can be made, the better. For example, I liked the gmusicbrowser interface (though I still can't really use it since it doesn't support cue sheets).

There's another feature that I lack: it would be an ability to set a multi-field sort rule for the tracks list in the library view (rather than being able to sort just by a single column). Gmusicbrowser has it: I, for example, used a compound sort rule "Year-Album-TrackNo" which is the usual order in which I prefer to listen to multiple albums.

Another inconvenience is lack of full support for thing known as Various Artists. I liked the Clementine player behavior the most: It simply presents an expandable "Various Artists" item in the artists list before all others and shows you a list of albums when you expand it. And, importantly, it allows user to manually force an album into the various artists category. With guayadeque, I need to take extra steps in order to see a list of all compilation/concert/etc recordings:

1) I need to make sure that all files that belong to various artists albums have the Album Artist tag set;
2) I need to remember which albums have values different from "Various Artists" in that tag -- and I do have some like that;
3) I need to scroll down to various artists or use the search field.

Of course I can use labels. And I will, since I moved from Clementine to Guayadeue exactly because of the labels feature (I see no other way to keep a big collection in a shape that allows easy and quick navigation). However, it's going to take considerable time to properly label all the 13k tracks that I have :)

As far as the original request is concerned, it will make this the first player on *nix to have this type of ability, which was first seen under wmp11 a long time ago. It is the only feature of a *windows* player I felt deserved any credit, as it gave a new way to browse music.

Currently there are a few windows players that do this, but none on linux and probably none on mac either. One example is the jriver media center which can run under wine, but its bloated and runs poorly under wine, including high-quality skipping of all audio you play lol.

If this was pushed out before 2013 I'm pretty sure the net would be raving over guaya all over again. It's also about the only player with a chance of actually adopting this feature, since all the others have basically gone in a different direction or are too stable to make such a change.
