Thanks for all your great work! Love Guayadeque!!
I've always embedded my artwork (thanks for implementing this recent feature) and have set ScanEmbedCovers=0 so Guayadeque doesn't create .jpgs in the album folders. Since I removed all the .jpgs to free space, I don't get any album covers in the Browser view. Is this correct? (I'm using the 1421 svn) If so, would it be possible to get Guayadeque to 1) check for a .jpg and then if no .jpg present, 2) use the embedded artwork from the first song which has it?

The cover is extracted also so I can send by DBUS interface the url for the cover art. This allow to easily update the cover in Sound Menu or other programs that controll players or conky scripts for example.

What is the problem for having a small image file for every album ? its just ~40K for album

Thanks for your help

Actually in terms of space it is worse to have the image embedded on every track of the album that just once in the folder.
Personally, I prefer to have a cover.jpg per album and no embedded images.

My guess is the albums aren't necessarily contained in a folder each but are in a flat structure with other tracks from various albums?

Guayadeque is designed to have each album in each folder. I hope I dont need to discuss this again ;)

Thanks for your help

That and the name change are forbidden topics! :)

You gave us false hope a few months ago when you said you might consider an option to store the album art in a separate folder with a name like %artist%album.jpg :D

Are you sure I said that ? I guess I said use artist and album to save covers so in one folder there can be different albums with different covers. Nothing about a separate folder for covers.

Thanks for your help

Yes, for what I remember the discussion was about changing the 1album=1folder idea, which is how guayadeque has always worked by design. Hopefully this will some day be reviewed not just to include multi-album folders but multi-folder albums as well. It is an issue that is raised by different people regularly.

I've also heard a couple of times the idea of being able to create "virtual albums" (I know about playlists, but is not the same). The tracks of these albums would be spread across different folder/albums and would have their own album cover. I think it is very good idea but I imagine it would bring a lot of overhead to the database work.

Anyway, sorry for jumping in :)

Yeah, but in fairness reading back over the posts I was being very annoying (I apologise now, 9 months later :)) so I guess it was something quickly forgotten.

I since learned that for 'singles' in the main Music directory it's best to embed the images directly in the MP3 files and for albums to put the JPG in the sub-folder. This way at least the image for 'singles' should show up in the playlist window even if not in the browser window.
