What will be new in next Guayadeque

Post by anonbeat »

Hello,
first of all I want to thank all of you who help to make Guayadeque a better application.

I want to show what will be new in the next version Im working on right now so you can give ideas and feedback while Im finishing the changes.
At the point Im right now I can show you how it will look and the main ideas but its not 100% funcional right now and this is why its not commited to the main repository.

First the configuration have changed from a plain text file to a xml file.

The Library view, album browser, tree view and playlist will share the window and will be only one tab in the tab manager. With this Jamendo, Magnatune, portable devices and ipods will have also all the views. This will open also the possibility to add other views like an Album view with tracks or a just covers view.

The copy to patterns allow to have predefined path so will not ask path when usin it but place the selected tracks to the predefined path with the selected pattern and allowing transcodinig if defined.

The library in the previous Guayadeque allowed to have multiple paths. Now you can have multiple collections. You can define different music collections and switch from one to another or have both open at the same time. You can define a default Copy to option that will be used to import music to the collection or when you drop files.

"The Library view, album browser, tree view and playlist will share the window and will be only one tab in the tab manager."

This is probably on of the best improvements for my use if I've well understood it. So for playlist we will have Artist/Album/Tracks/etc. panels?

The copy to with predefined path is a must too! Great to know it will be add.

Thanks for all your work Anonbeat!!!

Its not that way. It is that you can select from any of that views. But right now you cant browse Jamendo or Magnatune using the album browser and you cant do playlists in them. This is what will be added.

Thanks for your help

The possibility to have multiple libraries is superb and really sets guayadeque as a very powerful manager. The possibility to choose your views for the different services and extend the use of playlist really is fantastic. And the possibility to specify the path in a "copy to" pattern is something I've wished for ages.

You seem to be taking guayadeque on a different level now. I'm looking forward to the result.

If you manage to keep stability and performance hats off :)

Having multiple collections and different views for each of them will be another unique feature among linux players.

There is something I don't understand from the first 2 screenshots. It seems that with the buttons >> and

A suggestion to improve guayadeque's management capabilities:

Some way to flag/mark albums, artists, album artists and composer, similar to what you have in many photo-management programs. Ideally, with more than one kind of mark (red, blue, yellow, etc). The flag/mark should be some visibly icon associated to the entries in the Library.

These marks should be integrated as filters for playlists.

I like camaron's idea, maybe integrating this with labels? For each label offer the possibility to set a color?

What's the difference (other than having a color) between these flags or marks and labels?
