bulletmark is right, this happens when you don't close guayadeque manually.
Using v0.3.5
on Ubuntu 12.04

Guayadeque wont start
Sorry anonbeat, I never saw your question above because I never received an email. I just got "pinged" by an email from GalmWing's post here. Yes sorry, it is current package version 0.3.5~ds0-4 on my ubuntu 12.10 x64 box.
BTW, re my other comment about about guayadeque blocking shutdown. That was in July 2012 on ubuntu 12.04. I am now on a clean install on a new x64 box with 12.10 in Mar 2013 yet that bug still exists. If I don't remember to close guayadeque down manually then my box takes forever to shutdown.

This is the console output when loading the program. The program stops loading

Guayadeque wont start
Further to my comments above, it is now May 2013 and I am running the current packaged guayadeque (0.3.5~ds0-4ubuntu1) in a new install of Ubuntu 13.04. The guayadeque shutdown bug still occurs.

Looks like you are having a problem with taglib (¿ reading a corrupted file maybe ?) please report the bug to the taglib developers

Guayadeque wont start
Hello!
I have used Guayadeque from time to time, and I am very pleased with the program.
However, I would mention two things:
1). Do you really need a lock file in home folder?
It does regularly happen that I cannot start Guayadeque unless I delete the lock file. It is very annoying, and makes Guayadeque less enjoyable.
2). What purpose have the layouts? If I save one, I need to load them upon startup, so they are a bit useless, or at least illogical.
I use to start Guayadeque putting it into startup programs' list. I like its low resource requirements, but the 1). is hindering me of using your app as only player.

for #2
untick "load default layout" in preferences-general and then it will always load the last one used. But after you set it up and save the layout I recommend to quit guayadeque and then start it over because guayadeque only save states on proper exit. If you set it up an continue to use it and than it crashes you will lose your layout and all settings that you changed. As far as I noticed it only saves tags, ratings and play counts but everything else gets lost on abrupt exit.
